  • An eventful day
    ...written on 2006-01-23, @ 8:52 a.m.

Well, I have arrived home pretty much completley intact. I think everything that could have gone wrong in the move has, though.

You want the deatils, huh?? OK, first off, it began flooding the day before we left, cutting off almost every exit route, except the Summerland Highway which takes you out through Casino and then the back way to Grafton. Second, Dave and I slept in. Thirdly, the tire on the hire trailer blew coming from Dave's dad's to the unit to get the "final" bits and pieces, then after we got moving, the tarp which was covinging the trailer ripped, leaking rainwater all over and through everything that was inside the trailer. Next, we stopped to tape up he tarp, which was too wet and wouldn't let the tape tick to it. Then, I broke the face of my mickey mouse watch, a present from the girls at Big W. Finially, after we got moving again, we had a car accident at Coffs Harbour.

Thankfully, no one was seriously injured, but Dave was really upset, I was too and all we did for the rest of the day was sort out how to get our stuff home and how we were getting home.

Our stuff ended up being couriered home by a removalist company ($800 later), Dave stayed in Coffs the night waiting for his Dad and friend to arrive to pick him and the trailer up (to save us $150) and I jumped on a country link train for 9 hours to Sydney and then a further 2 hours to Wollongong, just to get home.

So, this is what I would call an eventful day. What do you think??
